For most
Americans, 9 - 11 was a flashbulb moment...Our nation was attacked, our
safety violated. 9 - 11 was an act of war, committed by combatants unlike
any we have faced in modern times. For those of us in the terrorism and
preparedness professions, it was more than an affront to our country...
We have
often not adequately appreciated the historical, ideological and
geopolitical subtleties underlying Islamic terrorism and, consequently,
missed opportunities to enhance our national security by effectively
pitting one faction against another, if not by defeat, then by
disruption.
Donald
Trump comes in 18th on the list with an IQ of 156, clearly genius level.
But that's not shocking since one does not expect a multi-billionaire who
ran a global business empire before becoming President of the United
States to be a dummy.
The
spiteful Democrats hate him for their defeat in 2016; the vindictive
Republicans cannot forgive him for their victory.
Pakistan
was acutely embarrassed by the discovery that the world's most-wanted
terrorist had been able to live, undetected, for years in a house less
than half a mile from a top Pakistani military academy, and 70 miles from
the capital.
I trained
some, and worked with many who responded to Ground Zero. And like many
others with skin in the game, I can still picture the faces of colleagues
lost - brave firefighters and medics who rushed where angels dared to
tread, and gave their last full measure of devotion to help the victims.
Unless and
until we get serious and reform our immigration system, we will not
significantly lessen future terror attacks in this country.
Last week,
the credit card processing company Vanco Payment Solutions dropped the
Christian nonprofit Ruth Institute over claims that the nonprofit
"promotes hate, violence, harassment and/or abuse."
"What
has been lacking in my opinion, over the last decades, in the United
States has been a policy response to actually deal with what they were
being told the North Koreans were developing, in terms of their nuclear
weapons and their intercontinental ballistic missiles."
When one
imagines the nation of Iran today, it's hard to resist the picture that
is instantly conjured: A country of religious oppression and
discrimination, ruled by a single, mandatory faith from which no
deviation is permitted; and of course, a state that is a bastion of
radical Islamic terrorism worldwide.
President
Trump can take steps to win without a fight
Imagine
walking through your village to church to pray during the final days of
fasting for the Feast of Assumption. State police forbid your entrance
and give the same reasons they always do - excuses well known to
Christian Copts. You have no permit to pray and you must stop irritating
Muslims with whom you share your village.
According
to the reports, the target of the Israeli bombing was a facility of the
Scientific Studies and Research Center (SSRC, aka CERS, the acronym for
its French name) near the town of Masyaf.
